Project Integration Manager

About the Role

We are looking for a strong and experienced professional to lead the Mutamba Project Integration. The role is fundamental to connecting business and project strategy and delivery to drive performance and value at one of Rio Tinto’s greenfield mineral sands assets.

This role is an excellent opportunity for an experienced and influential project management professional with the passion and desire to play a key leadership role supporting the performance of a large mining and processing business.

Reporting to the Country Manager and working in a collaborative community, excellence in this role means you will:

  • Develops project estimates and plans to manage the end-to-end project execution and implements projects in accordance with the approved scope.
  • Develops and implements an effective stakeholder engagement plan through the life of the project.
  • Monitors, manages and reports all relevant project performance indicators to meet business requirements.
  • Deeply understand business performance and value, and use that understanding to shape priorities, plans and actions.
  • Embody the role of Project Integration Manager, including influencing to drive the changes needed to fully embed the Project into the RTIT Plan and routine management.
  • Collaborate with excellence to draw effectively on the global Rio Tinto organization.
  • Establish new benchmarks for the Project team’s contribution to business success.
  • Partner closely with the RTIT Resource Development and as an influential member of the Project Senior Leadership Team to provide decision analysis. advice, and holistic support.
  • Sources vendors/ consultants as required and monitor performance against contract requirements.
  • Lead rigorous weekly, monthly and quarterly planning and forecasting processes and support improved business performance through ensuring highly effective forward plans.
  • Provide the Project and RTIT senior leadership with relevant, detailed, accurate and timely financial/project analysis. and provide advice to influence and shape strategy, planning and decision making.
  • Ensure governance and compliance through effective application of project controls and risk management

About You

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Finance, or an equivalent analytically focused field.
  • Relevant postgraduate qualification preferred.
  • Strong background in Project Management and financial planning/analysis.
  • 15+ years of experience, including in leadership roles within the multi-national mining environment:
    • Project/Portfolio Management (incl. implementation).
    • Business Performance & Planning Managemen1 (BP&P/FP&A).
    • Business Improvement.
  • An influential leader able to coach develop. engage and bring out the best in a team.
  • Strong problem solving, strategic, negotiation, presentation and influencing capabilities
  • Deep curiosity for understanding detailed business performance, and ability to use that understanding to develop insights and improvement initiatives.
  • A team player with excellent communication, influencing and engagement skills at all levels.
  • Expertise across a full range of standard business and presentation toolkits and an aptitude for identifying technology-based solutions to enable increased efficiency and performance improvement.
  • Highly refined time management and personal organizational skills.
  • A demonstration of dedication to excellence and continuous improvement, and personal growth.
  • Portuguese and French fluency are a valuable advantage
